" I first attended a Fellowship by the Fire session with Sam shortly after I found out that my dad, after having a series of serious heart attacks was also in renal failure, he was later to be diagnosed with terminal cancer as they could offer no treatment due to the liver disease…
Sam was quite literally a live saver… I really was lost… my mental health was very bad, I’d resigned from my Director level position in a recruitment company due to stress and I was totally adrift…
My first session we covered some basic safety stuff whilst building and lighting a fire to get some water boiling (Sam makes great coffee) and that process got myself and two guys I’d never met before to start chatting…
We all had our issues and with Sams gentle guidance we were able to start talking… It felt like a literal weight lifted off my chest…
That was 15 months ago… I’m now working as support worker, feel far more anchored and focused and looking forward very much to my next session sat by toasty fire drinking coffee…
I must also applaud the fact that Sam is always available to offer any guidance which I find so reassuring as for me that’s usually 11pm when I’ve finished a 15 hour day…
I am very happy to recommend Sam and I’m very thankful for his continued support…" -J
"I've attended fellowship by the fire a couple of times now its has helped me with my anxiety and depression. I struggle to leave my home dew to my anxiety but being out in the woods with a small group was great and made a couple of new friends too . I also relearned some bushcraft skills that I hadn't used in years while learning more about local trees and plants and their uses . Also found a lovely tree that had been damaged its a bit twisted but its still growing and doing its best with its issues. I found the tree while having reflection time and took it as a sign if the tree can keep going so can I. Look forward to more learning with Sam and the fellowship soon"- D
"Where do I start. Sam helped me wake up when I was at my lowest. Every time I met him he taught me something new about nature or showed me something I simply needed to see. He taught me to look beyond the routine and actually experience the moment. He reminded me to look and the more I did the more I noticed the little things. A hazel branch wrapped and warped by a vine which we cut and saved, we found our first neolithic flint knife together... a feather from a lesser spotted woodpecker. We sat and drank coffee in the woods while dog walkers went from a to b never even seeing us because they were so focused on their phones or simply weren't living in the moment. I've sat by the fire with like mined people... strangers and exchanged life stories while carving butter knives. Men need this"- N
